1. Check the background where you're shooting a picture. Is it appealing, simple, uncluttered? Nothing is less attractive to the eye than a filthy bedroom with socks hanging off the doorknob in the background.
2. Use a clear face shot. Body parts are nice, but not for the main image.
3. Learn about cropping. A tiny picture of you off in the distance at the foot of Mt. Rushmore is nice, but it does not show people what you look like. A close up view of your face, smiling and looking friendly, will be much more attractive.
